Grapefruit is absolutely one of my favorite fruits and, while I happily enjoy them year-round, there’s something about fresh citrus in season that really stands out. Here are a few of my favorite recipes.

Grapefruit Yogurt Cake from Smitten Kitchen. I’ve said before that I think Deb can do no wrong. This is especially true when she takes an Ina Garten recipe and adapts it as her own. You need this cake in your life.

Citrus and Fennel Salad from Food52. Fennel is one of those extremely divisive ingredients that everyone seems to either love or hate. As some who falls under the former camp, I can attest that fennel and citrus pair particularly well. When I’ve made this salad, I’ve left out a few of the ingredients – celery, cilantro, and dill – to just let the main ingredients really stand out. Don’t skimp on the dressing either, it’s delicious.

Kale and Grapefruit Salad from Bon Appetit. I know, another salad isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. But they’re so different and so delicious. This one has avocado and kale, which I chop finely instead of cutting into ribbons as recommended.

Paloma from the New York Times. If you forced me to pick favorites, this is the winner. While I’m a fan of margaritas, if you gave me a choice I’d prefer a paloma. There’s nothing better than a crisp, cold paloma during the summer. And if you’re a fan of mezcal, you’ll want to try this.
